We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to the West Midlands Children’s Theatre company, who came to school on Friday and performed ‘Dick Whittington’ for us. It was a great show, and it’s always nice to enjoy a good pantomime in the run up to the Christmas holidays!
Best-selling children’s author Laura Ellen Anderson visited school today. Her brand new book – Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball – went on sale yesterday. She spoke to children in Y2, Y3, Y4 and Y5 about her inspirations and what it’s like to be an author. We also created some repugnant recipes of our own.
Have a look at the pictures to see how much we enjoyed Laura’s visit…
We’ve decided to make lunchtimes even better at school.
The yard is now split into different zones, and there are loads of different activities for the children to join in with: skipping, basketball, dancing, drama, football, cricket, circle games, parachute activities, creative play and construction, the quiet zone and lots more.
The smiling faces tell their own story…
On Thursday 13th July, The Book Bus will be coming to school for the whole day. The Book Bus sells books at discounted prices (up to 75% off shop prices).
The bus will be in the playground before school and after school, so parents can go on board with their children.
Each class will also have the chance to go onboard and buy a new book. Children can bring money into school so that they can buy a new book.
Please come along at the following times to get on board the Book Bus:
8:00 – 8:45
3:15 – 4:00
Some of Year 5 and 6 are in Barcelona. We arrived safely at 10pm, and we’re looking forward to a busy day of sightseeing tomorrow. Oh, and we love our rooms in the hostel – some of them even have an ‘upstairs’!
Here are some pics of our trip so far…
We’ll post more pictures on Twitter (@stsilasschool), and just before I go to bed, here’s the weather forecast for the next few days…
